We identify challenges that need to be addressed in our era for the next generation, develop creative and practical alternatives, and work towards realizing a better world for the next generation through fostering social discourse and solidarity.
Our story
MISSION Institute for Strategy (MIS) was established with the sponsorship of Law Firm Mission and the participation of Mission lawyers to proactively identify major challenges of our era faced by our generation, develop creative and practical alternatives, and pass on a better world to future generations.
Why did lawyers establish a think tank? As legal professionals, we have solved micro-level problems based on our understanding of macro-level normative systems. However, facing the micro-level issues of our society and era, we have also become aware of the need for macro-level changes. We have realized that to achieve these changes, 'solidarity' that transcends the boundaries of domains and nations is necessary, from recognizing problems to developing and implementing alternatives.
Against this background, MIS aims to play a role as a moderator, gathering with citizens living in this era to identify and solve the challenges of our time, and working together to realize these alternatives.
Based on the core value of 'a better world for the next generation', MIS will seek solutions to issues that require human solidarity and resolution beyond the level of individual nation-states, such as the climate crisis and problems in the age of artificial intelligence. We will also develop methodologies to creatively resolve various social conflicts and identify and solve tasks for human sustainability, thereby practicing efforts for the next generation in our lives today.
Our mission
*
“We identify challenges that need to be addressed in our era for the next generation, develop creative and practical alternatives, and work towards realizing a better world for the next generation through fostering social discourse and solidarity.”
MIS is a think tank dedicated to identifying and solving the challenges that our generation must address for a better world for the next generation.
MIS proactively identifies the challenges our generation needs to solve, develops practical alternatives using professional and creative methodologies, and aims to implement these alternatives through fostering social discourse and promoting transnational civic solidarity.
To solve the challenges of our time for the next generation, we need the solidarity of everyone living in our era. Therefore, MIS aims to create social solidarity that transcends borders and domains throughout the process of identifying issues, researching alternatives, forming social discourse, and implementing solutions.
The global and civic solidarity that MIS will create is not only essential for solving our era's problems for the next generation but will also contribute to creating a community of solidarity for future generations. We will embody a community of solidarity that will create not just alternatives to individual problems, but a better social reality for future generations.
Core Values
We will collaborate and stand in solidarity with all those striving to solve the problems of our time, including governments, NGOs, research institutions, and citizens who wish to participate, to build the global civic solidarity necessary for the path to the next generation.
Solving new challenges of our time requires creativity that challenges existing notions. We will strive to present creative solutions that go beyond conventional conceptual frameworks
We will research alternatives that can be implemented through legislation and policies, not just academic discussions, and establish concrete strategies for implementing these alternatives, striving to solve problems for the next generation in our time.
What We Do
Issues such as the climate crisis and the advent of the AI era are 'human' problems that cannot be solved solely through solutions at the level of individual nation-states. 'Human' problems require research and solutions regarding the fundamental rights of 'humanity'. Through global and civic solidarity, we aim to derive 'declarations on basic human rights' for each human issue and establish standards for basic human rights necessary for our era and the next.
The MIS Dialogue Center is a specialized center aimed at resolving increasingly growing social conflicts by communicating with key stakeholders and presenting creative alternatives. We aim to develop creative methodologies that can actively solve social conflicts continuously, not just resolve individual conflicts.
*
MIS selects annual key agendas for each specialized center and conducts continuous research activities for at least one year to prepare alternatives and solutions for the agenda. Based on this, we will develop specific solutions and present them in areas such as policy and legislation.
*
MIS's research will be created not only through experts but also through the active participation of citizens who can engage in activities with deep interest and sincerity regarding the agenda.
